Light

Why do we hate?
To make us look strong?
When we weren't even weak to begin with

Why do we hate?
To give us more power?
Do we get power when we stand alone?

Why do we hate?
Is it out of revenge?
Since when was darkness able to get rid of darkness

Why do we help?
Is it to be a light?
How many lights would it take to light up the world?

  1. I really like the questions in this poem. It causes you to think about the poem in a deeper way. I also like how you repeat a few key words multiple times

  5. Wow Danielle! I also like the questions and motif. My favorite line is "since when was darkness able to get rid of darkness." Though the rhythm is a bit off on that line, the message is fantastic. The contrast between light and darkness is a rich archetype. I would put a question mark after the last line in the third stanza and change the last line of the first stanza to be a question.
