Black Bear's Burden -Amelia Flaharty

Big and black, always in a hurry
To find good food we gotta hurry

Livin' within the trees
Always be buggin' by bees

No good place to sleep
Maybe we'll sit and weep

Little cubs to take care
All I am is one big, black bear

My body's so large
I look like I'm in charge

When really I must protect
My whole life a defect

Raidin' all the trash
Findin' nothin' worth any cash

Bein' friendly I don't dare
All I am is one big, black bear

  4. This is a really cute and funny poem. I would have never thought that being a black bear is such a burden. The line "My body is so large i look like I'm in charge" made me laugh and your voice shines through! Very nice

  5. Creative idea for a burden poem...you could do a whole series of animal burden poems and make it into a children's storybook. Good alliteration in the line "always be buggin' by bees."
