School

What's the big deal about school
The public looks like fools
some wish to have it
others wish drop it
some can only dream it
others can only dread it
Many believe in education
while others believe its destruction
Many don't have the money
to some if flows plenty
it helps for building
but also for falling
it educates the smartest
but also educates terrorists
people going to college
to get more knowledge
to receive a job
not become a slob
although it causes stress
it creates less crime, less hunger
takes up your time and makes people wonder
school is great and all
and makes me stand tall
above the crowd but what about others
who are thrown under the covers
those who aren't lucky like me
who can't get it as easily
so whats the big deal
we should all get to feel
the power of your brain
we should all get to feel
the stupidity drain
let the knowledge flow like rain
and make your head go insane
the rich or the poor
make education not war
so don't be fooled
or we'll all get schooled

  1. Kevin, I love this poem! It brings up many issues I've often thought about as an educator. The lines "it educates the smartest / but also educates terrorists" certainly made me think...with knowledge comes power and responsibility. I especially like the last three lines of the poem.
