God's Galaxy

Flickering flames of scalding heat,
embers red with fiery strength.
Fly away pieces melt away earthly desire.
Body of fire fades with time.
Wooden fuel catches the light,
circle of friends share more than warmth.
Water poured to end the danger while
darkness spreads throughout the forest.
Diamonds sparkle beyond our finger tips.
Animals wake with a stomach to fill,
grace takes flight on the wings on an owl.
Moment gone in mere seconds of memory,
no matter the hearts of those around.
Remembered throughout time
for the yawn of life that starts the night.

  1. Allie, what a lovely poem with so many beautiful images and senses. I envision a fire in the woods, surrounded by friends that love each other and nature. My favorite lines are "circle of friends share more than warmth" "Diamonds sparkle beyond our fingertips" "grace takes fight on the wings of an owl." You truly shine as a poet!
