Untitled

Before the time of the humani
My sole purpose of existence
Was to provide warmth
And a fresh start for the new generation of life.
I never meant to hurt anything;
Now I am being forced to do so.
I am the life blood of humanity,
Yet they strap me to their belt
And activate my power
In a crowded area for the sole purpose of revenge....
I smell fear; I hear panic.
I have inadvertently become destruction.
I never meant for this to happen.

  1. I really liked how you captured the feelings of a bomb. Its kinda cool how you made the bomb seem almost upset that it was being used for the purpose of killing. Also, the overall personification of the bomb is very interesting.

  2. You use this poem as a way to really communicate your own opinions on war. Plus, by personifying the bomb you give the other side of a story. Suicide bombing is not near as cut and dry as it may seem.

  3. Matthew, I agree that this is a unique personification of the bomb or more specifically energy/life force. I especially like the last two lines. Make sure you proofread (humani), and maybe title it energy (or whatever you are personifying...it will help your audience understand that it is more than just a bomb.)
